As we reach the end of 2021, we are taking the time to pause and reflect on what an amazing year it has been at Watch This Sp_ce. Yes, it’s been tough with more lockdowns, restrictions, and uncertainty. Despite that, we, and so many other businesses, have managed to achieve great things during Year 2 of the pandemic.

For us, the year started with one of the team being ill with covid (she’s fine now). And two Watch This Sp_ce babies arrived this year! Both are thriving and keeping their parents very busy.

We have worked with some brilliant clients this year from political parties, education organisations, charities, and businesses of all sizes. And with each client, we learn more and more about the work we all need to do to make the world of work inclusive for everyone. If you haven’t listened to our latest podcast, tune in to hear Mo and Allegra round up the year of podcast guests.

Numbers….

Counting up the things we have done this year:

41 blogs – we have written about a range of different subjects over the year. We have many opinions! So we’re often writing blogs on topics to raise new ideas and subjects.

12 podcasts – with some brilliant guests and fantastic sponsors, we have covered a range of subjects. And we have plenty more inspiring guests lined up for 2022.

37 Conversation Starters – each week we share a short video to generate conversations on a range of different subjects about the world. Subscribe to our YouTube channel to see them every week.

2 new team members – during 2021 we met Zoe Thompson who joined us through the University of Sussex and University of Brighton Step-Up program. And Jill Hartery joined us as our Virtual Assistant to help us get organised.

Winners

And we had some fantastic successes along the way this year. We spoke at Brighton SEO conference in July. We signed up to Diverse Sussex and worked closely with the Silicon Brighton team. We became expert advisors at the Business & IP Centre Sussex. We exhibited at the Worthing Chamber Better Business Show. We signed up as signatories to Tech Talent Charter. And we were featured in a book! The Women In Lockdown book from Wayfinder Women features our story.

We attracted some attention too! We were finalists at the Brighton & Hove Business Awards in the Start-Up category. We won an award from the Business Elite Awards. And we were shocked, thrilled, and excited to beat 25,000 businesses to win the Simply Business Business Boost award! We’re still getting used to the fact that we were awarded £25,000 which has helped us boost the business and plans for 2022.

The award has meant so much to us. We have met so many fantastic people through the Simply Business network. It’s been wonderful to meet the team and the small business community around them. We were delighted to take part in their Christmas campaign to highlight small businesses. To see Mo & Allegra singing, watch the video here:

It’s been a year of so many wonderful things. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last year. We so appreciate all your support, engagement, and conversations with us.

We hope everyone has a restful break, whatever you’re doing towards the end of 2021. And we’re looking forward to a bright, successful 2022.
